Our Holiday to Kenya

Created by Diane Heyes 9 years ago
On 2nd August, 2006, we all flew out of Manchester on a holiday of a lifetime to Kenya in Eastern Africa. It was the last holiday you had with us before you ventured off doing your own thing with friends. We had a 9 hour flight to Mombassa. Do you remember, I sat next to you because I'm not keen on flying and you entertained me with your funny sense of humour and laughter and fun. I loved you for that Donna. As we approached Mombassa Airport, we saw Mount Kilamanjaro in the distance. You took a picture of it. Our hotel overlooked the Indian Ocean. We made friends, swam in the pool and watched playful wild baboons causing mischief around the hotel grounds. We went on a 4 day safari. We found the big 5 '0'. Lions, Rhinos, Giraffes, Elephants and Cheetas. Do you remember taking a picture of the Leopard crossing the road in front of us and you also took a picture of the elephants at a watering hole. Amazing pictures. The Reptile Night at the hotel was fun. A good picture of you and Chris holding a very big python. The Masai Village we went to was something from another time. We were greeted with a welcome dance and of course we had to join in. Do you remember the necklaces we bought. They are so different. I will treasure yours that you wore forever. The Masai lived in Mud Huts made out of Cow Shit, as the Masai called it. It certainly was a day to remember. The whole holiday was an amazing experience, one that all of us will never forget. I know that you had a fantastic fime on this holiday and I am so glad we were able to spend our holiday together as a family. I will always treasure those memories in my heart forever. I love and miss you every minute of everyday Donna. Love you always. Mum xxxxx
